Sea Box and AT&T recently partnered
to create a portable, mid-ocean, cable-splicing workshop. The Portable
Jointing Workshop (PJW) will be used by AT&T to maintain their
mid-ocean telecommunication lines. Designed, engineered and fabricated
by Sea Box, the PJW was built from a 40' x 9'6" Insulated Cargo
Container. The container was modified to allow for the addition of
an expandable tent enclosure which can be folded in for portability
or folded out to create an additional 600 square feet of floor space
in the workshop. The PJW is fully equipped with heat, air conditioning,
and ventilation; fully wired for electric and telephones; outfitted
with technical equipment, including X-ray facilities. |
