Sea Box designed and manufactured a containerized rigid-wall hospital and medical facility capable of being deployed on shore or aboard a ship. The complex is equipped to provide primary surgery, resuscitative trauma surgery, emergency medicine, and associated ancillary capabilities. Sea Box’s design includes (9) 20’ x 8’ two-sided expandable rigid-wall shelters which function in the following capacity: Casualty Receiving and Triage, Operating Room, Intensive Care Unit, Acute Care, Sterile Processing and Supply, Lab and Pharmacy, Command and Control, Bathroom and Laundry, and Medical Logistics.
These shelters are fully insulated, reconfigurable and redeployable and include all medical equipment and furnishings. The complex also includes 20-foot ISO containers and Bicons which serve as hallways, a UPS, and a refrigerated morgue as well as storage containers for networking and oxygen generation equipment; plumbing, power and connectivity support equipment; and medical supplies. The temporary nature of the facility allows it to be set up within 30 hours and ready to support mission critical operations. When the mission is complete, the facility can be disassembled, packed out and transported via land, sea or air to its next point of use. CSC testing was completed at Sea Box.

Sea Box designed and manufactured 16 Expandable Bicon Medical Utility Modules to be used by the Navy Expeditionary Medical Support Command (NEMSCOM).
Each MUM includes two toilets, a shower stall, two urinals, two handwashing sinks and one utility sink, an ice machine and a water heater. Each shelter also features a slide-out Environmental Control Unit (ECU) along with a freshwater and wastewater pump and related plumbing hoses. The MUM also includes a vestibule/passageway kit which can attach to the personnel door on either side of the shelter and allow for users to walk from the MUM to another shelter or building.
As Expandable Bicons, two modules can be connected in transport mode to ship as a Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEU). When delivered to its point of use, the shelter expands on both sides to nearly triple in size. A partition in the center of the shelter creates two separate areas for patient use. Sea Box also provided a detailed manual for set-up and operations.

Sea Box designed and manufactured three containerized shelters for Baylor College of Medicine. A Laboratory Shelter, Pharmacy Shelter, and Glove Box are designed to connect and will be used to research and treat infectious disease in field locations. All three shelters are Expandable Bicon containers. When connected in transport mode, two Bicons equal one Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) and transport in the same way as a 20’ ISO container.
All containers are insulated and have electric, lighting and HVAC. All three shelters have countertops, sinks, plumbing and cabinets and are wired for communications. The interiors are made of easy clean surfaces. The shelters have mechanical interlock pass-throughs to allow secure movement of samples in the shelters and avoid contamination. The Glove Box has negative pressure HEPA filter chamber.
In January of 2019, Sea Box’s Technician travelled to Nigeria to assist in the deployment of the shelter system.

Sea Box produced a Scanned Electron Microscope (SEM) Laboratory which consists of two 20’ x 8’6” steel ISO containers and two 10’ x 8’6” steel container. The four shelters connect to create a laboratory complex. Sea Box’s modifications to the containers included adding 1 ½” foam insulation on walls and ceiling, insulated personnel doors, plumbing, electrical system and communications panels. Sea Box also supplied a palletized 5-ton HVAC unit, palletized HEPA filter and all related ductwork to connect it to the shelters.
Furniture installed included Phenolic Resin & Stainless Steel Lab Benches, mounted cabinets, mobile sink systems, and raceway power & network distribution.
All containers are CSC certified.
