In 2015, Sea Box Inc. completed the design and construction of its re-Deployable Air Traffic Control Tower “DATCF” (see the tower being assembled here). The objective of the DATCF was to ensure an airport’s operational capabilities without disruption to the air traffic grid. The Sea Box re-Deployable Air Traffic Control Tower was successfully installed at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, CA and performed as intended while the permanent tower was refurbished. The controllers have since moved into their new headquarters, and Sea Box’s first re-deployable containerized air traffic control tower is ready for a new mission.
The DATCF was a first of its kind and succeeded technically and architecturally as an air traffic control tower should. In fact, it has received numerous awards including a special citation from the American Institute of Architects and an award for the technological innovation of a container by The Container Traders and Innovators Association.
