Sea Box, a custom shipping container manufacturer, is celebrating 35 years in operation.
Created out of necessity in a down economy as a reseller of used shipping containers, Sea Box has evolved into one of the most versatile custom container manufacturers in the world. While more than half of all startups fail Sea Box has experienced continued growth. In its 35 year history, Sea Box has produced over 6,000 unique designs, has expanded services to touch 5 continents, invested in complimentary companies, and has firmly established itself as an industry thought leader by accumulating nearly 100 patents granted and/or pending. Sea Box, with just under 250 employees, has experienced notable expansion since its inception in 1983 when the employee count numbered just two – the founders Jim & Maureen Brennan. In addition to workforce growth, the company has grown from a modest rented office trailer in Kearny, NJ to three international offices and three domestic offices, including its solar powered, 51-acre corporate headquarters and primary manufacturing facility in East Riverton, NJ. Sea Box is an ISO 9001 organization and augments its core business with a highly qualified engineering department, an ISO intermodal testing center, and a precision machining facility – The Inventors Shop.
